An award winning and published photographer, Joyce Aungst, launched Charleston History Photo Tours in 2005 after working with film and digital photography in San Francisco for over 25 years. Known for her clear and correct knowledge of the history of Charleston and its remarkable architecture, Joyce is the tour guide who shows you an insight to Charleston’s history through the lens of a camera. Whether you are a long time resident or newcomer, her passion for history, photography, and especially Charleston is an assurance of a perfect walk and a unique tour.
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Joyce attended San Francisco State University as a student of photography and graphic design. Her travels through Europe broadened her understanding of art, music, and history and enhanced her knowledge of photography, eventually leading her to Charleston and the cultures of the south.
